Meredith Alfred, OD
Prior to becoming an optometrist, Dr. Alfred graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emmanuel College. She went on to get her doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry where Dr. Amy served as her mentor. Her experience includes patient care at the VA in Bedford, Providence Community Health Center, Martha Eliot Health Center, and others.
Dr. Meredith has always had the goal of treating people holistically. Prior to discovering her love of optometry, she actually toyed with the idea of osteopathic medical school. Her love of optometry was originally sparked by working in a neuro-ophthalmology lab at Boston Children’s Hospital lab studying visual cognition. She was fascinated by the eye-brain connection and knew she wanted to be a doctor (as opposed to a researcher) and did not love the idea of surgery so ophthalmology was off the table and optometry seemed appealing! However, it was when she learned how a routine eye exam can save people's lives that she was hooked!
Dr. Meredith’s passion for developmental and neuro-optometry first began when she was diagnosed with an eye coordination problem and subsequently began vision therapy. Her goal is to help her patients overcome visual obstacles to be able to live more fulfilling lives. She strives to treat all people holistically and provide everyone with enough information to make informed decisions about their care.
Dr. Amy and her team have worked hard to foster an environment of continued growth and synergy to bring the latest research and treatment options for best patient results. Dr. Meredith is a perfect fit for this practice, and we think you will love her too!
